Carl Benett Hopson Sr., 71, was born Feb. 1, 1947, and transitioned home to join his beloved wife, Barbara, Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018. Carl was a son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many.He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps who served in Vietnam, Quantico and Norfolk. He retired from civil service as an electrician at Fort Monroe. Carl was a great sportsman who loved league bowling, softball and traveling the globe with his beloved Barbara. He leaves a son, daughter, four siblings, grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends, he will be missed by all.A viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home, 251 West Queen St., Hampton. A homegoing service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19, at First Baptist Church, 229 North King St., Hampton.
